The Mission

Blissful Dreams Rescue Ranch is a horse program where everyone is greeted with open arms and open hooves and no one is judged for who they are or where they come from.

Children, as well as, adults who feel they don’t have a place in this world, are welcomed into building a special relationship with a special horse. Blissful Dreams provides an accepting environment that helps to develop friendships, build self-worth and establish purpose in each individual. “…horses consistently share qualities of God. They are giant, but gentle; they love unconditionally; they are extremely sensitive to our thoughts and feelings; they are always forgiving, very patient and they give us hope to do amazing things.” – Jamie Kohler, Founder of Blissful Dreams

The Program

After over 25 years of working with horses and riding professionally, Jamie Kohler felt called to share with others how God has used horses to bless and help her through her life and struggles. Jamie continued to pray for several years about how to start the right program with her horses. In God’s perfect timing, He led Jamie and husband, Tom, to Kim and Troy Meeder’s Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch in Oregon (where Tom and Jamie attended Kim and Troy’s informational clinic in June of 2008). At Crystal Peaks horses are used to rescue and minister to youth with all different kinds of abilities and backgrounds. It was clear that God was calling Tom and Jamie to begin something similar in Huger, SC at Stardust Farms. Upon returning to South Carolina from Oregon, things quickly fell into place and Blissful Dreams at Stardust Farms was born in December 2008. Blissful Dreams is run by Jamie’s family along with many dedicated volunteers and continues to grow and flourish by the grace of God each day.

The Farm

Stardust Farms, Inc. was founded in 1986 by Patsy Irby in Mt. Pleasant , SC, where her daughter, Jamie (Irby) Kohler, rode and trained Hunter/Jumper ponies and horses. Jamie competed across the East Coast showing many horses and ponies to the top in the nation. She has competed in The Harrisburg PA National Horse Show, The Washington, D.C. International Show, and The Meadowlands International Show in New Jersey, taking top honors in each of the shows. During her final junior year (1994), she rode a 13.3 Hand Large Pony, Reach A Star owned by Jennifer Watson of Charlotte , NC to Large Pony Champion and Grand Pony Champion at The Washington , D.C. and The Meadowlands, NJ International Horse Shows. After graduating from USC in December of 1997, she continued to train and ride horses with Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw of Camden , SC. She eventually decided to ride and show professionally. Jamie returned home to Mt. Pleasant , SC in 1999, where she became the Owner/Manager of Stardust Farms.  The Farm has since moved to Huger, SC.

The Founder

Jamie Kohler had everything she wanted, or so she thought. At 21,

she was a professional hunter/jumper rider and was paid to do what she loved best, riding horses. That is when she realized that something was missing and felt that she was not using the gifts GOD had given her for His Purpose. In 1998, Jamie started working with Autistic children, teaching them to ride and sharing her love of horses. Ten years later, she established Blissful Dreams, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassion, love and acceptance to anyone in need. Jamie states, “I began to realize that I could still make horses my career, but I could do it to help others. GOD gets all the credit for Blissful

Dreams

and has been riding and training horses since the age of 6. Jamie is currently enrolled in the Veterinary Tech Program at Trident Technical College. She lives in Huger, SC with her husband, Tom and their daughter, Sam.
