PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND COMPONENTS
Group Care Intensive Services (GCIS)
Pinelands offers Group Care Intensive Services to males and females within three separate therapeutic milieus. The program is capable of serving up to fifty nine clients, ages eleven to twenty-one. The program focuses on adolescents who have experienced major problems related to school, family, and/or the community. The program addresses building coping skills in order to improve behaviors such as defiance towards authority, substance abuse, physical/verbal aggression, and truancy. Initially, all clients receive their educational services on-site. Dorchester School District II provides Pinelands with two certified teachers. However, as residents meet their goals, many attend the local public schools.
This is what it's all about! Below is a letter from one of the many teens that get to come to BDRR from a local group home.
